Once Upon A Time
The unique fairy tale story won over viewers last season with unique storytelling and surprisingly unexpected plot turns, but the show returns this season with a whole new set of challenges. The evil queen (Regina) no longer has the town of Storybrooke under her dark curse, but chaos is surely brewing. The people of Storybrooke want revenge on the evil queen, Mr. Gold (or Rumpelstiltskin) seeks revenge for the queen's treatment of his one true love, and Emma Swan must battle the conflict of accepting the identity of her parents, Prince Charming and Snow White. With new characters like Sleeping Beauty, Disney's Mulan, and apparently Captain Hook joining the cast, ABC's top fantasy series seems to have plenty of magical story lines ready for their second season.
Revenge
No one does it quite like Emily Thorn. From her stone cold glaze to her infamous monologues at the start of the show, #RevengeIsBack understandably trended on Twitter Sunday night. The popular suspense/drama series had viewers on a roller coaster last season, only to return with more drama and new motives. Now on the hunt for the whereabouts of her mother, Emily (or Amanda) is back in The Hamptons planting seeds in every corner. By the looks of the premiere, we are in for even more Grayson family drama. Victoria Grayson's illustrious return was much anticipated and surprisingly abrupt, but epic nonetheless. Daniel Grayson is still struggling after losing Emily and his mother while trying his hardest not to become like his corrupt father. Nolan Ross is back as Emily's "wingman for the summer" with a little more edge to the rich nerd we knew last season. Jack still thinks he's having a baby with Amanda Clark, which will have to surface in dramatic fashion at some point. Despite the odds, Emily will somehow find a way to use every one as cogs to carry out her detailed schemes for revenge in another chilling season.
666 Park Avenue
If you saw as many promotion ads for this show as I did, it had to be hard to ignore the series premiere of 666 Park Avenue. Just from seeing commercials and promos, you knew this would be one of ABC's darker series. After all, throwing '666' in the title of a show sends quite the message. From the series premiere, not much can be assumed other than some basic working theories. I think we will see recurring themes of selling your soul and paying your dues, possibly even to the devil himself. One thing is for sure, this building has a dark history that should provide explanations for some of the strange occurrences we saw in the premiere (like Louise Leonard's freak elevator accident). Our antagonist is clearly Gavin Doran, the powerful and sketchy building owner played by Terry O'Quinn who brings a chilling deceitfulness to the role. This show has an American Horror Story feel to it, but with potentially more room for error. I look forward to seeing this mysterious series unfold, and find out the answer to the legitimate question asked by our main character Jane Van Veen, "Are we gonna be okay here?"
