'Sleepy Hollow' renewed (already) by Fox

Much to my surprise and favor, Sleepy Hollow was renewed for a sophomore campaign just three episodes into its 13-episode debut season. The series premiere earned an impressive 3.5 rating among adults 18-49 and over 10 million viewers, making it Fox's highest-rated drama premiere since 24 six years ago. Based on the Washington Irving short story, Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) is a solider from the American Revolution awoken from a witch's spell in modern day Westchester County, New York, along with a Headless Horseman affiliated with the horseman of the apocalypse. Crane has encountered Abby Mills, (Nicole Beharie) a police lieutanant who possesses some kind of historic bond with these demonic forces.

The more I outline the plot the more my surprise becomes complete shock at this supernatural success story. Not that I haven't been enjoying a weekly dose of dark curses and Crane's colonial humor, because the writing and content of Sleepy Hollow are right up my viewing alley. I thought it was a risk merging non-fiction American history with fictional content and asking people to accept it. But somehow, creators Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Phillip Iscove, and Len Wiseman have the masses dug into this show with Halloween coming up. Good for them, and good for Fox. Check out Sleepy Hollow on Fox Mondays at 9PM EST.
